The constitution is that adopted at Wyandotte on the 29th of July 1859 and ratified by the people on the 4th of October 1859; it came into operation on the 29th of January 18'61, and was amended in 1861, 1864, 1867, 1873, 1875, 1876, 1880, 1888, 1900, 1902, 1904 and 1906.

On the 29th of July 18 J9 still another constitution was therefore framed at Wyandotte, and on the 4th of October it was ratified by the people.

On the 29th of January 1861 Kansas was admitted to the Union under the Wyandotte Constitution.

Trains are ferried across the river to Windsor, and steamboats make daily trips to Cleveland, Wyandotte, Mount Clemens, Port Huron, to less important places between, and to several Canadian ports.

Topeka was made the temporary state capital under the Wyandotte Constitution, and became the permanent capital in 1861.
